Despite and Still: Heidi Stober, soprano and Tanya Blaich, piano

The Department of Music presents internationally acclaimed soprano, Heidi Stober and New England Conservatory pianist, Tanya Blaich in a recital program inspired by Samuel Barber’s song cycle of the same title. Barber composed Despite and Still at the end of his life as he was grappling with creative inspiration, poor health, love loss, and isolation. These songs resolve to reconcile and persevere. The program features music by Elisabeth Lutyens, Maude Valérie White, Franz Liszt, Germaine Tailleferre, and more.   Free, open to the public, and wheelchair accessible.
