Lecture and panel discussion
In Our Time: A Symposium
Join us for an evening celebrating the 100th anniversary of Hemingway's powerful representation of its time's violence and moral uncertainty. The event begins with a panel discussion at 4:00 featuring Suzanne del Gizzo, Editor of The Hemingway Review and Dean of Liberal Arts, Montgomery County Community College; Marc K. Dudley, Professor of American literature and Africana Studies at North Carolina State University; and Richard Millington, Helen and Laura Shedd Professor Emeritus of English, Smith College. The panel will be moderated by Professor Michael Thurston. A reception at 5:45 features a display of materials from Smith Special Collections curated by students in FYS 192, "America in 1925." Students will be on hand to speak on the materials. At 7:00, Professor Thurston will deliver the annual Enid Mark lecture, "In Our Time in Its Time: The Story of a Book, the Story of Book Culture."
